Camp

The boys have enjoyed a two-week summer camp offered by their school to bridge the gap between the end of the preschool year and the end of the grade school year. Preschool parents who also have older kids are mostly the ones who take advantage of this, but parents with no other form of childcare (like us) also use it.

The great part about this camp is that it's led by one of the boys' teachers from their 3-year-old class and a teacher from another class, with whom they are very familiar. In addition, the camp day lasts from 8:00-2:45. While that is a full-day for the regular school, it is considered extended day for the preschoolers. In fact, preschoolers can stay even longer if their parents want them to. Ours don't, but in a pinch, they could.

Sadly, camp ends tomorrow. The past two weeks flew by. The boys have done many things, including "going to the beach" (digging and building castles on sand tables) and "camping" (playing in tents and sleeping bags brought in by the parents). Tomorrow is their end of camp "pool party" (wading in inflatable pools). While the kids (and I) are disappointed that they won't be going to their school again for two and a half months, they do have a lot to look forward to. Next week, their former nanny, Betty, will be taking care of them. They will also have a playdate with their best friend from school and they will have another playdate with yet another classmate. And, in weeks to come, we have several trips planned -- a week in the Hamptons, a week in Florida and a long weekend in the Finger Lakes.
