Rockin' out on the waterfront

Tonight, we attended a concert at one of our favorite parks, the Yards. I blogged about this park last year (wow, time flies). Well, now they have concerts on Friday nights and you can bring food and booze (woo-hoo!) Or, you can pay an arm and a leg and buy your grub and alcohol there. We did both.

It was a gorgeous night and there were more people than we expected, which made it especially festive. It happened to be kids' night, which likely explained the many children in the crowd. The music was fantastic -- Drew even walked up to the lead singer and said, "you are a really good singer," after which she gave him a hug -- and the backdrop was lovely. That's right, folks, the Anacostia River looked beautiful.

The kids enjoyed their Safeway pizza while Jeff and I devoured our gourmet hot dogs and screw-top wine. After checking out an owl that was brought by an animal conservancy, we headed over to the wading pool, where the boys played until sunset.

On nights like this, I can't imagine living anywhere else.

Cheers, Daddy! (Drew is double-fisting)
